Building a MeshCore repeater with a LILYGO TTGO T-Beam
You requires flashing the ESP32-based board with compatible repeater firmware, housing it in a weatherproof enclosure, and connecting a high-gain external LoRa antenna for optimal range.
Flashing the Firmware for MeshCore (This device can do 433 and 878Mhz) Please note you will need 868 antenna as the default antenna is for 433)
MeshCore runs on open-source routing. You can flash your T-Beam through your web browser using a data-capable USB cable:
[1, 2, 3]
- Download Drivers: Ensure you have the CP210x or CH910x USB-to-UART drivers installed on your computer so it detects the T-Beam.
- Put Device in DFU/Flash Mode: While disconnected, hold down the
Boot button on the T-Beam. Plug in the USB cable, and then release the button.
- Flash: Navigate to the
MeshCore Web Flasher in Chrome or Edge. Select your device from the list, choose the Repeater firmware profile, and click "Flash". [1, 2]
- Hardware Revision Check: If your T-Beam uses an AXP power chip (v1.2 versions use the AXP2101) and stalls on boot, you may need to compile the firmware via PlatformIO/Arduino IDE and ensure your board revision is correctly defined. [1, 2, 3]
