Title: Building your own SDR Dongle to cover the 150 khz to 1.5Ghz frequency band.

I am planning to build a SDR USB dongle to cover the hole HF to UHF band in one device.

I have decided on the following dongle design.

1) Using the MSi001 for base band and mixer frond-end tuner.
2) Using the MSi2500 IC to do the A/D conversion from the analogue base-band MSi001 IC tuner to a digital form.
The MSi2500 performs the necessary  signal processing and streams the signal to a PC host over a USB 2.0 interface. (IQ)
The necessary Linux and windows drivers will then aloe the normal SDR software to access and control the Dongle.
3) After reading about multiple pitfalls on existing USB SDR dongles like 5V USB supply ripple affecting SDR frequency stability and temperature change affecting frequency stability.
4) I will concentrate on this aria of my design to make it perform in stable way.
5) This mite mean that the additional circuitry required for stability mite mean that the form factor could be a bit bigger than a dongle but I will try my best to keep it as small as possible depending on what enclosure I can find.
6) Additional front end HF filter circuitry will be required with LNA.
7) Band filter and external antenna port selection interface will be required. (HF / VHF /UHF-LHF) 3X SMA Ports.
8) Possible phantom power for external LNA would also be a good idea.
9) Possible external Power port could be considered to eliminate USB power stability problems.
